Reflections Professional Development Day: 27th April 2013


Project-based Learning: Indoors & Outdoors

A Professional Development Day focussing on project work at Reflections Nursery & Forest School, with reference to the Reggio Emilia Approach.



Date: Saturday 27th April 2013, from 10.00am until 3.30pm 
Venue: Reflections Nursery & Forest School, Worthing 
Cost:  £60 (Full-time Students £30) including refreshments & lunch



What is project-based learning and how can we best support it in the early years? How do we support project-based learning indoors and outdoors?  


Martin Pace, Director of Reflections; Yvonne Barr, Nursery Manager; Teresa Grimaldi, Atelierista and Ann Mackie an independent consultant from Creative Explorers will be supported by other Reflections educators to give presentations and workshops drawing on six years of children’s learning at Reflections Nursery, Worthing and the Reggio Approach.



Participants:

We welcome registrations from all those working in the area of early childhood education and on creative arts/education projects with young children.

9.30am

Registration at Reflections Nursery, Worthing



9.45am

A guided tour of the nursery with a Reflections’ educator



11.15am

Presentation, ‘Project-Based Learning at Reflections – the work of Reflections Nursery and inspiration from the Reggio Approach’ - Martin Pace & senior educators 



12.45pm Lunch at the nursery

Workshop 1:  Projects in the outdoors – Martin Pace



1.45 - 2.30pm

Workshop 2:   The relationship between experiences & the environment and reflective dialogue to sustain long-term projects. Ann Mackie from Creative Explorers.



2.30 - 3.30pm

Free time to walk around Reflections Nursery
